Sell Your Home Using the Feng Shui - The Life Areas

Feng shui bagua is one of the main tools used in feng shui to analyze the energy of any given space, be it home, office or garden. To create good energy in your home, it is best to know the feng shui bagua of the home and balance its feng shui energies accordingly.

The Bagua Compass is actually an interpretation of the inner most ring of the large, traditional Lo Pan compass.   It is composed of the eight trigrams, the building blocks of the 64 hexagrams of the IChing (the Chinese book of predictions).  Each trigram is associated with an energy.  The different energies are related to career, luck, family, children, wisdom, helpful people, wealth, relationships, and health sits in the center. This octagon can be stretched in any direction to cover the floor plan.

For a built home -energy must enter through the front door so the compass is reoriented to place Career at the front door.

Building Lot: If there is no building on the property then the Bagua compass is laid out by direction so Career would be in the North and Luck in the South.

Colors can be used in art, cushion covers, drapes, curtains, carpets, etc. In this article, we will move through the different zones of our surroundings and discuss the energies that dominate each zone, and the colors one should use in interior décor and design.

The Life Areas (also known as Life Aspirations) are:

  1. Career, Life Mission and Individuality
  2. Marriage, Relationships and Partnerships
  3. Health, Family and Community
  4. Wealth, Prosperity and Self Worth
  5. Center of Good Fortune and Gratitude
  6. Spirituality, Helpful People and Travel
  7. Children, Creativity and Entertainment
  8. Wisdom, Self Knowledge and Calm
  9. Fame, Reputation and Social Life

To get you started, here are a few suggestions for each zone of the house:
In the Wealth zone consider placing trees or furniture made of wood. The colours red, purple and green help to create feelings of abundance while wind energy (think: mobile or chimes) enhances the space.

The Helpful People zone likes metal energy, modern clean lines and subdued, metallic colours. An easy way to bring these elements into a room would be through black and white photographs or a replica of the Eiffel Tower.

The Career zone likes water energy and the colour yellow. Either install a water feature (such as a fountain) inside or outside the front of your house, or fill a large vase with water and fresh-cut yellow flowers. Even consider choosing artwork for the foyer that depicts water.

The Fame zone loves fire energy so if you have a fireplace in that area, be sure to light it when people come to see the house. Candles, extra lighting and bright reds also help enhance this part of the house.
